The law of Murphy

If you get yourself a swanky virtual private server because the price is astoundingly affordable, and plan to do something with it at some indeterminate date… say, nine months later… do you know what seems to happen?

The VPS runs perfectly reliably for, say, nine months… and then, three days after you finally deploy the interesting something you were contemplating (say… a blog…)… the hardware on which your VPS runs will spectacularly fail!

On the plus side, I see nothing was lost (at least nothing I’ve determined so far, and since the blog seems intact, nothing I can’t replace).

On the plus plus side, I’ve now amended my backup script to back up the site daily instead of weekly, since I’m actually using it now and got a bit of a wake-up call there.
